ACADEMIC COURSE IN FILM AND AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION

The Second-Level Academic Diploma (equivalent to the Italian laurea specialistica) is awarded upon completion of the two-year course in Film and Audiovisual Production.

The course prepares students for a profession in the film industry by training them as contemporary filmmakers, exposing them to all the possible nuances and professional applications of today’s audiovisual world. These include not only videomaker, digital imaging technician, data manager, and colourist, but also more traditional roles related to directing, editing, production, photography, and sound design.

This program deals with various aspects of the film and audiovisual world like video clips, documentaries, commercials, and fashion movies, preparing professionals who can work on any phase of the process by equipping them with both practical skills and a solid theoretical foundation.

By attending the LABA Graphic Design course (Diploma accademico di 1° livello – 1st level academic diploma), you will achieve access to many different careers in many different sectors, such as communications, cinematography, video, publishing and multimedia. The educational program by LABA, in fact, allows its students to acquire skills that are easily marketable in the labour market.

The LABA Graphic Design & Multimedia course creates professional figures capable of securing jobs such as:

DIRECTOR

Directors can have many roles depending on the audiovisual field they work in. They are responsible for turning the script into a film, working on pre-production and on set, and coordinating many specific professionals. Directors can also be so-called filmmakers or videomakers, meaning they also work as operators and often editors on their own audiovisual projects. They are therefore prepared to work at various technical and artistic skill levels.

EDITOR

The editor or video editor deals with the post-production of a film or other audiovisual work. Collaborating with the director, this professional chooses what shots to use and gives the audiovisual work its rhythm, meaning, and structure. Editors can also handle colour correcting and grading, i.e., calibrating and colour balancing scenes, and/or adding multimedia graphics effects.

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

The Director of Photography (D.O.P.) or Cinematographer is the person in charge of the film visuals who decides on the technical set-up and shooting settings (camera, lenses, mounts and stabilisers, lights). The D.O.P. also manages camera movements, set lighting, and data management according to the director’s requests. This audiovisual professional can either be positioned behind the camera or make use of operators, assistants, and various professionals with very specific tasks.
