ACADEMIC COURSE IN FASHION DESIGN

The Fashion Design major of LABA in Florence is designed according to the Ministry’s new academic system (3+2). At the end of the first three years of studies, the student receives the ‘Diploma Accademico di 1° Livello’ (equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree).

The course prepares the students to work in the fashion industry and involves the acquirement of skills in styling and pattern drafting and in trend business.

It addresses the various aspects of all-round Fashion Design, thereby ranging from fashion sketching to fabric design, from fashion trend forecasting to communication video techniques.

WHICH CAREERS CAN I ASPIRE TO WITH A DEGREE IN FASHION DESIGN?

By attending the LABA Fashion Design course (Diploma accademico di 1° livello – 1st level academic diploma), you will achieve access to many different careers in many different sectors, such as styling, pattern drafting, product development, cool hunting.

PRODUCT DESIGNER

The designer who, in addition to having tailoring skills, is capable of overseeing the entire creative process of an item of clothing, thereby coordinating quite different specialisations.

STYLIST

The person who oversees the design process, from concept to final production, of a fashion collection, accessories included. This professional figure gives an aesthetic added value to fashion products.

COOL HUNTER

The professional who acts as anticipator of sector events by spotting new trends and styles and finding their practical application on the market.

PATTERN DRAFTER

The person in charge of developing a model or prototype to be made, interpreting the stylist’s sketches and following his/her indications.
