ACADEMIC COURSE IN DESIGN

The Design major of LABA in Florence is designed according to the Ministry’s new academic system (3+2). At the end of the first three years of studies, the student receives the ‘Diploma Accademico di 1° Livello(equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree).

The course prepares the students to work in the Design industry that influences products, interiors and communications.

It addresses the various aspects of all-round Design, thereby ranging from industrial design to furnishing accessories, from light design to eco-design, as well as the aspects of digital design that lead to solutions for the supply of services.

WHICH CAREERS CAN I ASPIRE TO WITH A DEGREE IN DESIGN?

By attending the LABA Design course (Diploma accademico di 1° livello – 1st level academic diploma), you will achieve access to many different careers in many different sectors, such as industrial design, interior design and communication design.

The educational program by LABA, in fact, allows its students to acquire skills that are easily marketable in the labour market.

The LABA Design course creates professional figures capable of securing jobs such as:

INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER

Oversees the design process, from the concept to the final production of a serial product, by applying the technical and practical skills required to follow the five main phases: analysis, ideation, development, implementation and distribution. Designs innovative solutions by creating prototypes using state of the art 3D printing and laser cutting machines.

COMMUNICATION DESIGNER

Oversees communication in a broader sense, in design and post-design phases. During the designing of products and services, the designer coordinates and streamlines the exchange between the various professional figures, facilitating the execution of actions aimed at achieving the best solution possible. In post-production, follows communication with the client and monitors the results for possible future implementations. The communication designer also designs the interactions, the functions and the usability of the digital platforms, thereby integrating the skills of the computer engineers for the creation of websites and applications.

Interior Designer

The expert in living and exhibiting who oversees the design of interior spaces and furnishings, placing special focus on the use of the most suitable materials. The interior designer also carefully designs the use of these materials by forecasting their movements and, more in general, the relations between users.
