Museo degli Innocenti is arguably one of the oldest residential institutions for children. Where stories of abandoned children living next to works by Ghirlandaio. It’s a newly designed Museum that foreshadows the possibility of living spaces with multimedia coursesĀ storytelling the activities and history of the institute.
Access to the Museum takes place from Piazza Santissima Annunziata, entering into a space designed by Filippo Brunelleschi with the wonderful portico and courtyards where you can admire the paintings by Piero di Cosimo series orĀ Della Robbia’sĀ sculptures.
There are three routes designed for the museum which recall the history, architecture and art. A series of measured actions that do not compromise the readability of the environments historically characterized, the Museum collects 80 works of Art by Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Piero di Cosimo, Luca della Robbia, Bartolomeo di Giovanni, Giovanni del Biondo and others.
Museo degli Innocenti has safeguarded the existence of about half a million children in need in six centuries of history. The museum is spread over a total area of 4900 square meters.
